Myrtle is Rowland Sutherland (flutes), Alwynne Pritchard (voice) and Thorolf Thuestad (computer). Improvising within strictly defined structures or evolving performances from found compositions such as jazz standards Satin Doll and Cry me a River or M.W. Balfe’s nineteenth century aria The Dream, Myrtle create highly original, personal and tightly contained takes on familiar texts and tunes, as well as exploiting their very different musical backgrounds within free improvisation.

"A very good way of finding out something about engines is to have a talk with one, or, rather, to listen to what it says... Nobody can drive any sort of engine well, unless he understands this language that it speaks, and nobody can do that unless he understands something of the different kinds of engines and the way in which they work. Let us, then, start at the very beginning."
